Decided to buy a built block from another H-T member. My question is will my stock B20B head w/ stock cams be able to work or do I need an aftermarket High Compression Cam like the Crower 403 or the Cranes?? A friend told me that w/o aftermarket cams I will have to run race gas?? Is this true or is he out of his mind. NEED HELP ASAP!! Don't want to buy the block if I can't use it. I need to find out if it'll work so I can go ahead and give this guy the money.

fully build 98 B20B block
Golden Eagle sleeves
85mm Endyn Rollerwave 12.1 pistons
Endyn/Eagle Rods
ARP rod bolts
ARP headstuds
ITR water pump
Z10 block girdle
ACL bearings

I can't afford cams if I get the block so it's either this block or another stock B18/B20 bottom end.

 

Please help me out here guys. I need to know so I don't mess anything else up.

 

The block came off of a B20/VTEC setup. How will putting back a stock head affect it other than a great loss of hp and torque. Also will I have to untap any oil lines in the the block? Can this setup run on pump gas(93 octane)?

It's a stock 98 USDM B20B4 head on the block listed above. Thanks!!
