Got a dilemma regarding fuel injectors...
I have 2 faulty fuel injectors which are causing a pretty much useless cylinder #2 and an okay cylinder #1.
The shop told me that he can get 2 fuel injectors from Acura for $123 each, and he's going to charge $50 for installation.... so ~$300 for the job.
I can get 4 used injectors with 28K miles on them for $50, should I spend the extra $200 dollars to get brand new injectors or should I just spend $50 and get used ones... is this a piece of mind dilemma?
BTW, I also did a compression test and got ~155 on all four cylinders.... is this good?
EDIT - Just did a search on compression tests and these results where done with just 1 crank per cylinder and the throttle was at 0.

I'd just get a set of known good used ones for cheap.
The other ones might not be far behind to failing.
155psi isn't bad b/c the relative cylinder readings are equivalent and the gauge used makes a difference in the absolute numbers.
edit: for 1 crank, that's good.

I'd say do the used injectors and do the install yourself, should take less than 15minutes.
Also, redo that test, we usually crank like 5-7 times when we do it. And keep the throttle at 100% during it. Find a walkthrough for the test, remembering to cut fuel in some way....
RE: what IN VTEC said about the test is probably true though, since you got even numbers across that is always a good sign, numbers are low though most likely because of the 1 crank, 0% throttle.

Alright, I'm opting to go for the used fuel injectors because they're cheap and I'd rather replace all 4 then just have 2 new ones....
BTW, how do fuel injectors die?
If the fuel injectors I get have 28K miles on them, how do I know they won't die in 10K more miles (because that's around where my mileage is)...
EDIT OOOH, found 290CC jdm ITR injectors

Yeah, used injectors and do the install yourself. 300 dollars is WAY too much money.
Injectors are super easy to install, just make sure you are really careful about the metal clip that holds the harness to the injector. I had one spring out of my hands and fly across the garage into never never land. Dealer does not stock this part, so it's a pain to replace.
The two sets of rings each injector sits in are also easy to knock out and are a pain to find in the engine bay, so beware of that too.
Minor stuff for sure, but it can turn a little job into a big headache.

for $300 you can get a full set of decent RC or other injectors (lude's, etc.)
installation is easy...clip and pop - your hid install is many times harder!

i don't see why would they need to be.. since motor isn't much differnt.. all civic/integra injectors are the same.. basically, they just turn up the fuel pressure why itr has the highest of all.. from that i don'e see why jdm itr have prelude injectors
now.. for injectors choice, used ones should do, just have them cleaned/recalibrated at first.

How do these look?
I can get these JDM injectors for the same price as USDM injectors so I figure why the hell not...

maybe recalibrating isn't the right term.. but i'm reffering to this:http://www.rceng.com/service.htm

do yourself a favor , for piece of mind...
buy NEW O rings and insulators and get some assembly lube to reinstall the injectors with the new seals.
it will keep the dry rubber from deforming or tearing.

Skafia, I have a set of used ITR injectors I bought off our infamous Austrian-R friend here on HondaTech for cheap and they are packed and ready to ship out for nothing, lemme know if you want them for FREE.
I tried to sell them on ebay and was able to unload only one set
so I have these boxed and ready to go, I'll eat the UPS fees is you do need them.Modified by owen_the_soyboy at 12:59 PM 11/4/2003
That is the first time I have ever heard that JDM ITR motors have dif injectors.
Can anyone confirm this?
Also what parts are needed to install used RC into an Obd2 R...
Thanks

This will answer your Q's.

This is something to think about. Bigger injectors don't solve much, and they can be expensive. Plus, even RC makes an occasional mistake.
Used OEM is the thing to do, I think, unless replacing the injectors is a part of a much bigger plan.
