auto tranny for 700 whp???
After another disappointing weekend at the track and shattering a DSS axel on only the 2nd pass i am beginning to wonder about automatic trannys. i know TCI and Level 10 is making parts but does anyone have any experience with them holding on a high powered car? i want to know can the honda auto tranny be made to hold 600-700 whp
with the right combo and driving style you should not be breaking axles left and right. what kind of power are you making?? what tires?? auto trannys eat up power, weight a ton, and are not "proven" for hondas(for 600-700hp).
Was it harry's car?
i agree breakign axles is more driving style and set up . alot of different things take into play other than hp. . actually hp has nothing to do with it . TQ does. but thats neither here nor there.
what was his tire pressures, burnout procedure, susp set up , ect? Harry is a little wet behind the ears. with practice it will come , unfortunately wont come cheap with the kind of car he decided to start racing in . best of luck to him though i wanna see this thing hit some crazy times.

I'd like to see a full out drag Honda pull up to the line and build up boost in an automatic. That'll sound pretty sweet..and theoretically hook/run alot smoother and quicker.
Too bad we can't utilize the Chevy trannys like the MKIV Supra guys.
What are the options for FWD built automatics anyways? Or are there none?

These's only 2 that I know of that hold the power. The 4L GM trans and
the 413 chysler. The Mopar trans seems to be on the edge in Mike Crawfords
car, although I think he's a good bit over 600-700 hp.

Yes this was in Harry s car not mine. He is not even launching to its full potential. I am thinking about adapting a 3.8 liter Buick tranny into my Integra but im weighing my options. I personally think auto sucks and its not nearly as fun but if it saves me enough money i just may do it. I have a guy who can make it work so i may just do it and see what happens.
