Default Good Nitrous Cam? (Direct Port)

Hey guys, LTNS... Still in Tech School, Wichita Falls, TX if anybody wants to visit ;-)

Anyhoo, I'm getting the car down here after Christmas and I want to do a 100 shot Direct Port and cams. (along with ignition upgrade.)

it's LS/VTEC Je pistons, Eagle rods, ITR valvesprings/retainers, stock valves tho... I am thinking about stainless valves but I still need to know what cams all the nitrous guys are using.... Aftermarket, stock, whatever.

Thanks,

Airman Ratliff ;-)

I'm using Crower 404's. It's a N/A cam, but it works for me. If anyone knows of a better cam I'd also like to know. But I gotta B18b.

haha, Salinas! That's where I grew up... Born @ Fort Ord...

Left there when I was like 14 to go to West Virginia w/ my family. WV sux compared to Salinas.

Is that one place the "Flying Lady" still open? It's not too far from Salinas it was cool... All the planes flying around in the restaurant. haha. that was the ****.

Anyhow, If anybody wants to make suggestions on the setup I have like $200.00 to spend right now and if I wait til the 15th I'll have about 400... I really want a new tranny too that damn YS1 is teh suck for 1/4-mile.
Cable trannies are hard to come by too. :-/

well almost any all motor cam is going to be good for n2o....you just dont want to get to aggressive or a cam because the gas will get sucked in and not go out. so it will be unusable...like toda bs are fine toda c's might be to much i dunno, but alot of cams work great for n2o, i have even heard ppl using type 3 juns on n2o, skunk2 really like n2o too....just my 2 cents

Most all-motor cams have alot of overlap. Too much overlap with nitrous will cause reversion resulting in loss of power.

Just like RyanCivic2000 had said, for N20 or FI you want a cam with as little overlap as possible, not so little you sacrifice N/A power but not too much you're blowing N20/Boost out of the combustion chamber. You also want a longer exhaust duration to get as much of the spend gases out of the chamber as possible. In my experience building motors, most "off the shelf" cams aren't sufficient enough for such a specialized application like N20 or FI. Best thing to do is talk to the engine builder and tell him what you would like out of the car and they can get a cam custom ground for you.

my car weighed about 2600lbs. with me in it and I never ran it at 284. The 11 was on a 100 shot about 260whp then if I remember right

I have been using Crower 63403 cam. Big cams can be used with nitrous. Use the cam gear to remove some overlap. Also when using alot of nitrous loosing a little out of the exh side helps keep cly pressure down. And also nitrous likes compression. My compression ratio is 12.8.1 and my motor is having no problems so far.

plain and simple, the best nitrous motor you can build would be a really nice n/a setup, that you can spray.
