Default H22A Envy

Hey guys. My friend has been hounding me about why I wanted an H22A in my accord so bad. He then traded his 94' 3000gt for a 95' accord ex Sedan with an H22A already swapped. Needless to say im jealous. The guy he traded with said that he bought the engine from some company in Canada for about $4,000. He warned me about buying an engine because most of his frineds that bought H22A's had problems. Anyone have success with a certain company? Im really pushing for an H22A in my 96' coupe ex, but skeptical about engine importers. Any suggestions on where to buy a complete JDM H22A engine swap? (engine, ecu, all sensors, axles, 5-speed trans)

Call around local wrecking yards or peeps with a USDM model. You'll have better luck, save on the shipping and it will be easier to return if it's broken. Just my 2 cents.

I personally think you're taking a big risk laying down 2000-2900$ on a JDM motor you can't inspect until you've paid for it and it's delivered to your door.

How would you feel if you saved all that money up, get the motor only to find it's in bad shape.. but still passes their "startup warranty"... that is a normal occurance unless you're one of the lucky people. They will not refund your money and pretty much tell you to F-off. Then you're stuck with it.. either to sell it or rebuild it to spec (for alot more cash).

In my opinion, find something local.. go look at it.. pull the head off.. or at least give it a thorough inspection if they won't let you go that far. Look for leaks and bring your compression/leakdown tester. This way you know you're getting a good motor.

My 2 cents.

want to by my car accord? already has a JDM H22 in it, dyno tuned to 182whp and 150lb/ft torque. approx 60K on the motor.

anyways i bought my motor from http://www.a1jdmengines.com and got a great motor. you may want to consider driving to montreal or toronto which where some JDM importers are. that way you can save money and pick out your motor.
