How the heck do they SEE?
Do you think you could miss a 10000lb. bright blue truck in front of you? As for apexes, those guys rarely take a corner properly...
...But it is the best(!) and I wish they would bring those to the US.

Man, I love it. Hey, if those window sponsors would allow me to enjoy just one more race, they can put a logo on the whites of my eyeballs.
<== who was forced to watch "Schoolbus Figure 8 Racing" on ESPN. Why? B/c it was the only racing on during the time.

Did you ever watch this stuff? I mean it's non-stop action!
Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't say it's better than a bunch of Hillbillies in tube frame chassis riding around in circles all day long. Now that's this chit!

one thing to consider is that those windshields are huge. They may be covered mostly, but there still may be enough open glass to see out of. (although the light blue one in the front is still pretty crazy)

Their tire budget is pretty low, actually. No one makes race compounds for those wheels, so they run standard hi-mileage long haul truck tires.
And these are coming to the US next year. There is a 6 race series that will support ALMS with custom built trucks. I saw a support race at the Petit leMans this year, and the announcer was saying that next year there will be about 10 trucks competing.

those are cool, though.. sequential gearboxes, water cooled braking, and custom gearboxes to take them to 115mph pretty darn quick..

and I gotta believe the risk of injury is minimal..........what with all that metal and stuff to soak up the impact......Not to mention the Basset Hound that any good trucker would never leave out of the cockpit on a trek.......10-4 Good Buddy
Umm, I don't see any NASCAR bashing sucka.
NASCAR sucks monkey nuts!
Wait! There it is!!!
Re: support of ALMS races. I can't wait for this. Should be awesome! I remember seeing the water spray coming out of their wheels and was absoutely shocked. I had never seen that as a method of keeping their brakes cool.

ASSCAR is great! I flushed the toilet the other day and watched the "kids" go in circles 4 wide on the high bank!! boy that was fun!
enough nascar bashing, those semi's are great fun to watch, very entertaining and the rules are very loose, they all pretty much own the track when they are on it, the pavement is more of a suggested path than anything

I guarantee those guys could kick the **** out of y'all on any road course any given day

Not to start an argument but...
Wasn't the HANS device created because a certain seven time nASScar champion was killed on an oval in their sports biggest, most important race of the year?
Or how a young Adam Petty was killed on an oval (at low speeds mind you), or just two weeks ago Tony Renna adding to the massive list of fatalities at Indy just to name three.
And how about the close calls with Mario at Indy a number of months ago, or Kenny Brack recently?
Lastly who could forget the amazing Zanardi... My hero, a true-life superman, but it didn't have to be.
Why???
Yes, road courses can be dangerous as well, but one has a fighting chance of not hitting anything on most corners of a good road course. Compare that to an oval where you have 3 options... Concrete on the outside, concrete on the inside, or get hit numerous times by other cars who couldn't see you through the cloud of smoke.
Hell, even "The Simpsons" have brought this up a few times. Most recently was this Sunday and the new "Treehouse of Horror XIV".
Homer kills the Grim Reaper because he has come for Bart. As he then laments the death of Death, Homer says:
"Oh ye who made nASScar fun to watch."
That's telling you something about the general public's perception of what a nASScar fan wants to see...

However as others have already pointed out, you can grow as many sets of anything as you can and it still won’t save you from:

Hehe, those things are helluva fun to watch. For about 5 minutes... They should try to run with a 45' trailer to make things even more interesting. Radio from the pits: "Uhh, we got a jacknifed truck in T5..."
Boy, I can really see Nascar running a big truck race on a superspeedway. Screw those ****** VW, Mercedes etc. rigs. Get some of those huge mega cubic inch American iron rigs out there... lol...
