Floor jack that'll go under a 3" frame?
harbor freight has one that goes down to 3.5" and Craftsman makes one that goes down to 3.75"
You can always drive up on a 2x8x12" piece of wood first.

Yeah... I came back to update this thread. I was just at Harbor Freight, and while they had aluminum jacks, they didn't have this one shown on their site:

And what's with the "nonsense"...

Thanks. I've seen this site before but didn't remember they sell jacks. Very nice... but a bit pricy for me. Interesting their site says a nice aluminum race jack is the right piece of equipment to pack in the trunk or trailer for the event. Expect to pay $800-1100 for a high quality professional jack
Guess they don't want to know about the $139 jack...
I suppose another approach is to weld in jacking points >5.5" high...

What part of CA do you live in? I thought HF carries basically 2 aluminum jacks, 3000 and 4000 lb, except for color. The Harbor Freight in Pasadena had the small jacks last time I was there, but at a higher price. I was told if I print out the ad for a product from the website, the store would honor that price, but double check with your local store.
The AC jacks are awesome and all of them go down to 3.1".

It's been my username since about 1996-97 ish. I couldn't think of a username for my e-mail that wasn't already taken. I decided that I might as well think of a name that made no sense because it would probably not be taken. The username has stuck ever since. It really doesn't make sense to me why I keep it either.

As stue as it is, they also weigh close to two times as much as the Harbor Freight's jack - something to think about if you're planning on carying the jact with you to many events.

Not sure if this link is a repost, but it has some good info on jacks, including a couple mentioned on this thread:

Yeah, he didn't say if it was for home or track use. I'd go with the HF or the new Craftsman for track use

Both. I'm holding off for the moment, deciding if I want to devise some sort of screw jacks on the car... If so I could use a CO2 cylinder air-powered impact wrench to raise/lower the car, in addition to changing tires...

They cost money... though I could make them easy enough. Screw jacks OTOH give a better feeling of safety if I need to get under it...
Better price for the same jack.......$99.99

At least I think it's the same jack. The specs are almost identical.

its pretty ridiculous how cheap these things are now. oh well. its served me very well. had to replace a lost bolt holding the front roller, no big deal.

They look pretty much the same. I'd still go for the HF because I can buy a 2 year extended warranty for that jack for about $11.

Who bought the HF jack before it was cool to own one
