Urgency painting issue. Wheel primer?
UPDATE BELOW - Spotted look need painting advice please.
Ok later in the afternoon i have plans to paint my GSR wheels like posted in this previous thread I posted. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=661964
Heres the deal - I need a primer I have the duplicolor gunmetal wheel paint and clear coat - but what do i use for the primer ?
Ive seen high heat primer - regular primer - rustoleum primer. My buddy said to get "adhesive promotor" - ive looked in 9 different auto stores - not including hardware stores for this and cant find it. What should i use for a primer - or no primer at all?
High heat primer - automotive primer - rusto primer heh i dont know theres tons - and i couldnt find one for a wheel application.
UPDATE BELOW - Spotted look need painting advice please.

YES, do not prime them. just scuff the surface with sandpaper.
LISTEN TO ME. I have done this 4 times in the past, all with great results.
Kick your friend who says get adhesion promoter, I dont even know what that stuff is.

UPDATE plz read if chance.
Ok after like 2.5 hours of sanding - which was after we aircraft removed the clear coat we sanded every wheel down to a perfect smooth feel with some good grit to it.
After a long wait .. we test spray a spot.
It starts to leapord print (become spotted - like it would dry out and contract itself)
Any ideas why the leapord print look ? - maybe whether ? it was 45ish degress out ..... so if anyone doesnt say anything I guess im just gonna get some primer tomorrow and then paint cuz the primer with give it that stick feeling to the paint....
Note - this is an alloy wheel.

what you can do is get this stuff called "adheasion promoter" before you spray primer on the wheels, dust a light coat of this stuff on them one at a time let it dry for about 5 minutes and then spray your primer on .. after that light "scuff" the primer. becarefull around corners and edges.. then wash off the dust and continue on with the rest
you should be able to find it at any paint store

Thats what i was told before to get then as you can see above they told me dont get it.
Well i did before you posted after driving 25 mins to the only store that carries it. Works like a charm - sprayed 2 coats of it. then did 5 of gunmetal and 2 of clear coat. Turned out perfect some imperfections but extremely minor.

you dont need primer or adheive promotor, you need a can of aceton and wipe the wheels done with, this will get rid of all the key elements that are "fish eyeing" your paint. any Q's AIM me

I told him to get the adhevsive promoter, and imagine that... it worked. Maybe you should check it out before you start kicking all your friends when they tell you to use something that you don't know about.
