ITR vs. GSR cams for turbo? which is best??
Hi, welcome to HT. This subject has been covered a few times already. If you search you will find some useful info about this subject. There are a few opinions on this subject. Read what you can and then decide for yourself.
I would have to agree and say ITR, but I really don't think in a turbo application there would be enough of an increase to upgrade.

GSR cams. Everyone who is making big power is running GSR cams.
Everyone i've seen who actually races and is sponsered runs GSR cams.
ITR have too much overlap, but that can overcome via cam gears.

I've also heard GSR cams are better for a turbo setup. Less overlap to tune for (correct me if im wrong on this statement)
I decided that GSr cams were they way to go for me.

You will get 50/50 answers. Yes ITR cams have more lift, but then they do have more overlap. If you get adjustable cam gears you can tune it out as much as possible and make some sick numbers.
GSR cams have only a little less lift and alot less overlap. You can tune out the overlap but it really isn't necessary unless you want to. You can put in and go. I myself have switched to GSR cams from ITR, but I know other ITR owners who are very happy tuning out their overlap. Its all preference and your setup.

Well, I've read alot about it too. I say stick with whatever set of cams you have, but if you don't have any and are choosing, I personally would buy the ITR's. High lift / low overlap is what you want, and you can easily tune out overlap on a dohc with cam gears, so I'd take the ITR's, set them up right, and you will probably make a bit more power, if you (or your tuner) knows what their doing.
You will not have a problem with either gsr or type-r, so take whatevers easier to find / cheaper / you already have / etc.
