questions - modifying an R exhaust and header/cat concerns for my gsr
Hey guys, I finally got my type R exhaust. Everything looks great too.
Ok, for one I've read that I need to extend the b-pipe like 4" right behind the cat.
I also read (and noticed since i have it now), that right at the flange at the front of the b-pipe, the pipe necks down to 2". So, I need to whack that off, and add some 2.25" pipe and a new flange.
My plan was to take my stock b-pipe off and have my dad, or a muffler shop, or whoever make the R b-pipe look exactly like the stock b-pipe.
However, I was trying to think of the long run... I have a 94 gsr and currently the exhaust is completely stock. One gripe of mine - I hate exhaust work... grr... it sucks. Another gripe - I hate doing work over and over again. I've already had a complete aftermarket exhaust on my car - header/testpipe/catback and it was too loud and ricey (DC 4-2-1 2pc, 2.25" resonated TP, Greedy Evo if anyone cares).
I guess what I'm saying is should I go ahead and put a high flow cat on now? If so, should I get a 2.25" inlet and outlet?
also, If I decide to get a Kamikaze header in the future (thats the best for a jrsc'd car, right?), it will have a 2.5" outlet.. will that cause probs if everything else is 2.25"?
I was also thinking... running rich will clog up the cat, right?
Well, if I put on a high-flow cat and I'm still running rich, wont I just clog it up too?
should I go the testpipe route? im OBD1
so no CELs
if i do go testpipe... and make it 2.25" and then later on if i got the header thats 2.5" collector.. then what? just put a reducer in front of the testpipe? or can you just butt the flanges together without probs?
also, are catco cats good?

just get the ITR JDM header, carsound cat. this is the same setup i have..although not installed yet....all these will bolt directly into one another.
Well i was going to go with the Kamikaze header because the best header for JRSC'd cars.
i forgot to mention that my 94 gsr has a JRSC @ 6psi

you can get the kamikaze...into a car sound cat which can bolt into the type r exhaust...
so for now, just put on the exhaust, then when you get the header, get the high flow cat with it

anyone know where i can get one of the flanges i'll need to weld back onto my b-pipe?
the flange now is 2"... i'll need one thats 2.25".
is there any specific size? can i get it anywhere?
