Default Brakes creak after pad change...retaining clips??

car: 96 civic ex

problem:

I recently changed my front brake pads. I put the non squeal stuff between shim and pad. I DIDN'T use silicone grease on the pad retaining clips, nor did I take them off and inspect them.

Now when I brake, and only when I brake, just from the left side I hear loud creaking. it's oscillating too. My rotor is in perfect condition and nothing looks damaged around the area.

Do you think I need to grease the retaing clips like the Haynes says so?

CLIFF NOTES: Oscillating brake creaking, could it be that I didn't grease brake pad retaining clips?

Did you cut the rotors?

when changing pads, you should always resurface the rotors. Make sure you clean them well too.

i fixed it. it was the brake pad retaining clips. I simply put a light coat grease on them and everything is perfectly silent. As for resurfacing rotors... why? they are in great condition. It stops quick, smooth, and evenly (doesn't drift to side)
