Default Reverse lights staying on..Why?

I have a 92 Hatch Si and I just realized last night as I was dropping my friend off at her house that my reverse lights were on. I was in neutral and they were still on. Even when I put it in first and take off....They are still on. Does anyone know what it could be?? Thanks

Have you done anything to the car recently?

Are your taillights on all the time too?

probably a bad reverse light switch in your tranny. the switch just unbolts. easy fix.

Well me and my friend took the tranny off to change out the clutch but that's about it, and the tail lights aren't on all the time...Only when I turn them on.

The switch should be on top of the trany under the distribure .... atleast that's where it is on my 91 civic.

Is it something I would have to replace? If so, where would I get it at and how much do you think it would cost?

first off, nake sure the switch is plugged in.

I've never seen a reverse switch go bad, usually just the wiring ripped apart when a tranny swap is done.

IF it does prove to be faulty, I have plenty, $5 to cover shipping.

how much for the switch itself. and does it have the gasket/washer?

if a switch is faulty, WOULD is keep the reverse lights on?

sounds like you forgot to hook it up, or you sliced a wire somewhere and its grounding out.

any other suggestions?

yeah its the third pic.

stick it in reverse, take it outta reverse, and while the lights are on, trace the wires back from that switch to the two bullet connectors, and unplug it, one wire at a time. Goes out? Bad switch. you can take the switch out with a 19 mm wrench.
