Staggered wheel setup
Does a FWD benefit on the track with a staggered wheel setup(wider on the front 16 x 8, narrower on the back 16 x 7), just like how alot of RWD cars use a staggered wheel setup? Pros and or Cons?
.....I know of very few guys on this board running such a setup.
Typically, it is referred to as a "jdm" configuration - as most in the US simply run stiffer spring rates in the rear and the same tire/ wheel combo all around.
I've been experimenting with the following:
11k F/ 5k R coilovers with 205/ 50/15 azenis all around. I'm using 15x7.5 up front and 15x6.5 rear. With 33psi front and 26 psi rear, I'm able to get the car to be neutral at autox. I still need more oversteer, so I think I'd like to raise the rear rates to 12k, and maybe use 15x7.5's in the rear as well. Maybe 225/50/15's for tires too... Maybe next season.
Another guy who is going crazy with a staggered setup is "rodney." He's using 225/50/15 hoosiers on a 15x8.5 F and i dunno what size in the rear - it is skinnier though 15x7's i believe - with the same size tire.....
