On the way home today from school , my car suddenly have this weird idle when i shift to 2nd,3rd,4,5 gear. The rpm needle slow down around 3800-4000 and it bounce back a little, and it felt really hard to go pass 5000rpm. This goes to all the gears except for 1st gear. i made it home safe then check the engine.
everything look fine ,nothing loose or leak and no check engine light .
the car drove fine this moring and before . it just running rich
Anyone know what happen ? please help, Thanks

this is 96 lsvtec motor
with b16 p&p head
type R im , Ls tb
ctr piston ,ls rod
PYR p28 ecu (running rich right now)
Rc 310 injectors
still ls tranny and stock clutch

are you sayin that youre idling around 5000rpms??? how do you idle in any gear other than neutral?

 

you might also wanna check out your fast idle valve and idle air control.

 

do you guy think running rich could cause this too?
it felt really hard to pass 5000 rpm so i shift to 3rd but its still do the same thing through 5th gear

 

did a search and i think my car is in safe mode that why it drive like **** .

how come there no check engine light on ?

does this " Safe mode or limp mode" happen when u were driving too ?

what cause this safe mode ?

im gonna reset my ecu tomorrow to see if it work .

 

mabye one of your ecu plugs came out a little bit
and also check your check engine light bullb and see if its burnt out

i took the ecu out and put it back .

now its normal .
