Anyone painted their carbon fiber hood ???
I am thinking of getting a carbon fiber hood EXCLUSIVELY for the weight savings over the OEM metal hood. This means that I'd like to have it painted in my ITR's black color. Has anyone done this ?? Is there a negative side to painting the cf hood ??

We had to clear coat my buddys FI CF hood 11 times before it stopped absorbing the ****. Explain to the shop what CF is and that is somewhat absorbant, paint adheres to it differently than it would to a metal hood. Don't be shy guy! If they don't know that they will act like they do and turn their shoulder on you when they **** up your hood.

Why add more weight to a hood you are buying for weight reduction??
<---would like a dry cf hood......no clear coat. Just resin and hardener to make it stiff, then squeezed out with the vacuum bag. None of this clearcoat ish.

I'm not saying it's bad to paint it, because I actually like the way Yoshi's turned out. But the original owner wrote in caps "EXCLUSIVELY" for weight reduction. If that's the case, take it to the extreme and get the lightest hood possible that is sturdy.

if you want weight reduction buy a cf hood, thin underhood skeleton and pin that sucker down.
