I got a turbo from Cheapturbo a while back, I cannot figure out what size bolt goes on oil drain flange. I think it's 10mm but is it a 1.25, or 1.5 and what is the threads per inch?
Any help is great. I called cheapturbo and they didn't know, they told me it is a 8mm bolt which is way to small.

Somewhere around here there is a thread with all the thread sizes...
Get it... Thread with threads?
Lemme find it...
EDIT: Found it... Stan's the man!

thanks scrapinsi, Stan is always the man with the good sheit!!
I'll check the 8mm bolt (again) at lunch today but I swear the diameter isn't big enough. Like its a 10mm. But I'll check.

We are talking 8mm THREAD, not 8mm HEAD...

At lunch now, checked 8mm X 1.25 (20mm) and it is too small diameter. According to Stan's chart that scrapinsi posted above, it says this is same bolt as wastegate.
IT is not on my turbo. It is deffinitely a 10mm but I don't know thread pitch or how many threads per inch. Tried 10mm (don't know pitch) (20 and 30mm) and they didn't thread in.
Can anyone help?

im sorry that you were misinformed when you called. it is a m10x1.25.
the 20mm and 30mm will be the length of the bolt.
hope this helps

bump for the morning, anybody got any ideas??
bring the turbo to the hardware store, walk around probing your turbo with bolts until the right one fits!

Thanks Cody, I thought about that but I just got everything hooked up to it, I really don't wanna pull it out of the car and take it to the store again. But if thats what it comes down to then i will.
I don't understand, why my turbo would differ than anybody elses 4 bolt style wastegate garrett turbo?

maybe a bolt hole was stripped at one time, and was retapped with a standard thread

thanks for all the help peoples! I do appreciate it.
Scrapinsi, possibly but this is a brand new off the shelf turbo from cheapturbo.
Is there a 10mm bolt that has more coarse threads than a 10mm X 1.25 (20mm)??
maybe if the pitch is larger?? 1.5 instead of 1.25?? I have no clue so i'm only throwing out ideas.

get a 1.5 pitch and try that or go buy like 10 different bolts, and see which one fits, the take teh others back

I'm not saying anything, I dont have any experience with cheapturbo, but are they BRAND NEW? or brand new rebuilt turbos?

Try 1.5mm pitch.
10 mm only comes in 1.25 and 1.5 anything over than it it does exist is not an automotive or general application and you'll prolly will have difficulties finding one.
Try 10x1.5..

Stan thank for the info, I found the ace near me has 1.75 pitch too!!
Anyway, I pulled turbo off at lunch even though I really didn't want to and took it to ace with me, found out the oil return flange bolts on my turbo are:
3/8-16X and 3/4 long.
Thanks anyway everyone!

yup... it was retapped with a different thread... Thats what happens is alot of places have standard taps, but not metric, so they use the sae equivilant for that size...

thats ghey, they hould have left it the way it was.
i apologize for the misinformation, they are normally m10x1.25(same as turbine housing discharge). but, some of garretts bearing housings are made in the U.S. and some are made outside of the U.S. the bearing housings machined in the U.S. are SAE thread, machined outside of the U.S. is metric.
also, to clear any confusion, we sell only NEW Garrett turbochargers.
