put my si cluster in.... now it goes all wack after 5100rpms

i got a 1988 with a b16 swap the usual, anyways i put a tach in works great up to 5000rpms but soon as i get over 5k the tach goes WAY CRAZY like just sits there goes to zero then all the way back to 5 but it wont go past 5 no matter what? did i buy a bunk cluster?

yea all the lights and everything work... very weird right after 5k its like the tach is playing the mexican hat dance or something its all over the place... really messes me up too... it sucks ***

alright checked it today.... the tach was on tight but it was missing one bolt......

you could have a faulty tach. Something you can try is test the voltage going to the cluster itself with a voltmeter. if it starts going nuts then you know it's a short somewhere and if it doesn't then it's probably the tach

alright what wire do i test and what should the readings be.... also i have a apexi rev speed meter and that reads from the ECU and it reads just fine.... any ideas?
