Oil Pressure Saftey
Anyone ever use one of these?
Seems like it would be a nice saftey feature in case something goes wrong and you don't catch the guage in time (or don't have one)

all it is, is an adjustable oil pressure sending unit that cuts off the electrical supply to the car... Its a good thing to have, but just more wiring to have hanging around IMO...
I prefer my Nordskog digital oil pressure gauge... once it drops below a certian PSI, it flashes bright red at me... same thing if water temp heats up, or volts drop low... the proper gauge flashes...

no, it is 7psi... They make them that are higher, but you have to remember, some vehicles at idle are only pushing 10-15psi... and you dont want your vehicle to stall when it idles...

**** man my **** would never start when at operation temps then... ehhe probably cause how i have my guage hooked up... i like like a huge as T off my block... iwanna get a sandwich but i want an oil cooler so i dont konw wtf im gonna do... im thinking just get like a oil cooler block then get an earls fitting and tap that bitch and put my turbo supply line into that.. what u ******* think? good yes no?

the only way your gonna test it is if your cars oil system takes a **** , so then yes , somthing would be wrong....

I hope you only plan on using it while drag racing. There's a serious possible safety issue if you plan on using it on the street and any track with a turn and lack of stopping room.

maybe hook it up to a led light instead of the ignition so if the light goes out, i can kill the engine when its safe.

Might as well just get a gauge with an audible and visible warning.
If the oil pressure is already down while making a hard run, you've pretty much already toasted the engine. It only takes a heartbeat. Bringing the car to a safe and full stop to protect lives is a greater priority.
Keep things practical. I've already considered a lot of the points of using one of those....it's got a pretty limited application.

No... The brakes are VACCUUM ASSIST... They WILL work without the engine running...
Also, you have another issue... If you hook this up to your ignition, you go to start your car, and your car aint gonna have any electrical juice, because there is no oil pressure... know what i mean? You'd have to hook up an SPDT relay to a switch that you could flip on once the car is already running...
I do know some domestic people that run them, but none of them have ever used them...
ALso, just get an autometer warning light... You can setup an autometer warning light to come on once your oil pressure hits a certain point. Its a pencil sized shift light basically....

No... The brakes are VACCUUM ASSIST... They WILL work without the engine running...

yes actually, i have... I did it from 40mph Sunday night with no problem... Smelled something burning under the car, turned it off, drove into a parking lot and stopped w/o power brakes or power steering...
EDIT: Turned out it was the undercoating burning from the flames the open downpipe was shooting...

yea, when you shut the car off you still have some assitance from the vacuum still in the system to help.
it was a while ago when I did it but i remember having to stand on the brake pedal almost ot get it to stop rolling. so i dunno.
lol yea i used to shoot flames out of my downpipe when the decel fuel rate was too high, so every time i let off the gas BANG and then flames...woot
