Will i damage valve guides / seals if i hot tank my head?

correct me if i'm wrong....but couldnt i take them out and hot tank the head with the guides in it?

You could. It isn't necessary to take out the valve GUIDES. THey will not be damaged.
The seals would get damaged. Those you would need to remove before hot tanking. Ideally, I think you should have a bare head when you go to hot tank it.

also be aware that usually if the seals are kinda old when u pull them off the rubber grooves( that hug the guide) on the inside will usually scrape off. if this happens just replace them with new ones cause if u try and put it back on it they will sit crooked and cause them to leak eventually...i say replace them anyway since the head is off and dissasembled!

tegbuilder is right, you would want the head bare if you were going to hot tank it. Your seals would definitely be ruined if you didnt take them out first.

I got it...now i can sleep.
a little elbow grease, big needlenose pliers, a flat head and some serious help from Bruceleeroy and Tegbuilder....thanks so much guys.
