Default Need Help, I'm a newbie

Hey, I'm kinda new to the Honda scene. I used to have a 94 Camaro Z28, but had to sell it(financial reasons). That car ran a 13.0@105mph, and I'd like to get my Honda down to the 13's. I know it's gonna take time and a bit of money, but I wanted to get your opinions on what mods are good to start with. I already have a K&N conical filter on the end of the stock intake. I figure I'll eventually pick up a metal intake off ebay pretty soon since it's smooth, it'll help a little. I've got pretty good general knowledge of engines and such, and do all my own modifications. I am thinking about buying a T-28 turbo off a friend of mine and fabbing up my own system. Any help you guys can give me would be great!

Oh yeah, and my car has the 2.2L F22A something or another engine

And does anyone make a short throw sifter for my model Accord? I haven't been able to find any and would love to shorten the throw on the stock shifter. It's not bad but I definelty wouldn't mind it being shorter.

Thanks in advance!

Oh yeah, forgot to add I already dynoed it(in completely stock form), it made 118fwhp and 127fwtq. The air/fuel ratio's started out good around 13.5 then got fatter and fatter as the rpms climbed! It got all the way down to 10.5 by 5,500 rpm's.

Oh, and does anyone know of a good(quiet!) exhaust that isn't too expensive? I don't want some 5" tip or anything like that, just a simple 2.5" exhaust with like a 3" tip would be nice. ANyone have a recommendation?

talk to mike (mkteller8) on h-t...he sells custom made mandrel bends specifically for accord exhaust; preformed and all (unwelded) for around $200...you can buy whatever muffler you want after that...it's a pretty nice setup and shouldn't cost more than about $300 after it's all said and done...as far as your forced induction goes, search this site for the dsm turbo setup...it is basically all the parts form a first generation dsm and i believe it will work well for your setup...can't beat a boosted accord for less than $1000...anyways, good luck man and welcome to H-T!

i haven't seen many accords in the 13's. you could do a h23 swap and boost it to get you there. Then you're going to have to do more. Did you say this was a daily driver? Stripping the interior could help.

On the short throw shifter go on ebay buy a adapter. Then cut down your stock shifter. If you wanna have the stock threads still there your gonna have to do some welding like i did. GL

HOLD ON before you waste alot of cash..alot of those mods would be useless if you switch from NA to FI

the muffler for example

what is your ultimate goal and how you gonna do it??

NA for 13 is possilble but you can start ripping out your cup holders now because it's gonna be stripped like no tomorrow.

FI-turbo, again, may way you can do it but there's pro and con's

swap-by far popular h22 engine, supported by number of aftermarket NA and FI parts

Well, I'm not dead set on running 13's, that's just kind of a lofty goal. I basically just want a quick daily driver. It will have to be in full street trim, because I am not stripping my car! This is my daily driver, so I just want a reliable quick car. I'm not going to spend the money on an engine swap or anything like that.

BTW, is there any way to reprogram the stock computer? Like change the fuel tables and spark and stuff like that? I know they have several things for the Camaro's if you want to tune the car yourself, so I figure there's gotta be something like that for the Accord? I mean how to you reprogram the fuel tables after you've done a turbo upgrade and stuff like that?

Thanks for your help guys, it's much appriciated!

Most people just add an Apex-i VAFC. it's a piggyback computer that lets you change a lot of the fuel and timing stuff. If you want a completely programmable and tunable stand-alone ECU, look into Hondata or the AEM EMS. Either way, plan on spending some time on the dyno to get the most out of them, but you probably knew that already

for the shifter, you can either buy an adapter off e-bay and/or cut down the shift lever. You can either cut new threads into it or weld the threaded part back on. there is also a true short shifter available. I think it's made by p-spec maybe. do a search in the archives for "shifter" and the old thread should come up.

and welcome to the accord family
