what do i need? obd1 engine obd1 ecu obd2 car
i have a 97 civic dx and i am putting in an obd1 b18b swap... what do i have to do, wiring wise, to get this engine and ecu and tranny to function in my car???
This is what I would recommend tho if you like doing wiring (like me) I would just modify your existing (DX) harness... If you choose to stick with your OBD1 LS motor then it's easiest to swap the distributor, alternator, injectors (or just use your D16Y7's injectors, they are the same), etc... It's not that big of a deal to just simply swap off the OBD2 dizzy and alternator connectors for OBD1 ones as youi will have the entire harness ripped apart to make it fit your new motor anyways... In the end, if you just swap connetors and don't wanna move over your DX injectors then you'll have to rewire the alternator, dizzy, IAT, injectors, relocate the oxygen sensors to the rear, and shorten/lengthen anything that need be... On the interior side (at the ECU connectors) you'll need an OBD2a - OBD1 ECU jumper which you can make or buy... I would also recommend getting new loom (I never reuse it, not that it will fit too wel anyways) and atleast 3M Super 33+ grade electircal tape as it takes heat, weather, etc. really well... Good Luck and let us kow if you need anythiing else...
