Default my engine is umm boiling water?

i got a mini me swap on a d15b,

if i drive it ok and shift low aounr 3kish between gears temps are ok..
i'll check the radiator and water is ok...

if i drive hard and push the car the temps shoot up real fast...
it overheats pretty quick... and i'll open the hood and i can see the water in the piggy back tank is bubbling and gurgline from steam in the rad goin to the other tank... and then the radiator is half dry..

what's goin on!?!?!

Did you rebleed the coolant system?

Do you have a thermostat?

Is your radiator cap in good condition? Radiator caps are designed to hold pressure in the cooling system.

How many miles on the radiator? Perhaps you've neglected cooling system maintenace and now a bunch of crud has accrued in your radiator.

Are you running 50/50 mix of water/coolant?

Did this just start occuring after the swap?

thanx for the reply

thermostat... i believe so not sure.. but how would it change the fact that i'm bloilign water?

the steam doesn't come from the Cap it comes from the bleed of hose.. acts i guess like a waste gate...

the radiator i swapped it was used, but in good condition, doesn't look it has many miles...

no i was running distilled water.. no coolant...

but it's acting as if the radiator is getting saturated and can't give off heat fast enough not that the medium of transport isn't good enough...

but i'm swapping out the 15b and putting the d16a9 back soon, i think it'll be a better engine of the two.. but was asking outta curiousity... what would cause this kinda problem.. itsn' almost as if the rad is too small for the motor..

could it be cuz the higher compression in the swapped motor is causing too much heat? rad. can't keep up?

because if it's not working..
then the water is not circulating through the radiator and through the motor..
so it boils

with the radiator full..
as the engine warms up..
when the thermostat starts to open you will see the level in the radiator (with the cap off) will start to pulsate. it will go up and down..
and finally drop once the thermostat opens. then you should see that water circulaing through the radiator..
if it doesn't pop up and down. and you don't see ciruculating.. you probably need a thermostat.

Any leaks anywhere besides the over-flow?

If you have water boiling in the over-flow resevior then your system isn't holding pressure somewhere. I highly doubt its your thermostat, because if it was stuck closed your engine would overheat but your coolant wouldn't. I'd dry off any water around the radiator/hoses/etc start the car and watch it start to overheat. You'll find the leak somewhere, most likely being one of the radiator side tanks or a loose/cracked hose.

i filled the car yesterday, let it sit all night.. drove it this morning, parked it, left it all day then drove it all night.. i put at least a 100km on the car.. shifting below 4K revs at all times, goin into 5th gear asap...

i check the res and it was still full... so i'm guessin it's not leaking? :/

i'll check for pulsating water 2morrow... see if i can see anything swirling around...
