Valves, valve springs, & more
Okay, here's the deal.
About a month ago, I downshifted just a little too aggressively into third, and went to 8500rpm for just a second or two. My car appears to still be running normally, but I'm worried about the valves, and that I could have bent any.
First of all, is there any way to tell? A lot of people mention a clicking noise, but I don't know how obvious that noise is, if it can be heard above the regular engine noise easily. Second, if this is the case, what would be good (yet economical) aftermarket valves/valve springs to get as replacements? Are Type-R valves/springs a direct drop-in replacement? I've looked at several options, I already know that Todas and Spoons are super expensive (Skunk2 and Mugen are a lot more economically priced on springs), and that a lot of places only sell springs, and not valves. Should I get OEM or ITR valves and aftermarket springs?
Finally, are there any other parts I need to have checked for need of replacement if it turns out valves are bent? Will a compression test be enough to tell if there's valve problems, or does more need to be done? I know this is a long question, but I need to know everything about it, I'd appreciate responses from people who know all about this (have done it before for themselves or someone else). Thanks for your help.

i wouldn't worry too much.....my friend mis-shifted 2X's and his VAFC read 9200 rpm!......everything was fine......plus 8500 rpm isn't too high for a gsr to rev, but if you want to be sure, do a leak down/ Compression test.......if you bent any valves, i think your compression will be lower, i think.......can anyone else back me up?

slightly bent valves might not show up... but if u did bend some... ur compression will say it... but going to 8500 is not bad... ur car can handle it... just not constanly... i over-reved my car before... redlined 3rd and went to 2nd by accident... and i dont know where the hell it went too... way over 10k though... and i had a cm stage 4 clutch so im sure it really got up there... that clutch didnt give for anything!
