Hitting Valve Cut off in an RSX???
Any negative effects of hitting valve cut off? I've done it a couple times paying attn to the road and other things, and before I realize it, I've hit fuel cut off. It's on an RSX if it matters.
Base model or type-S? Hondata seems to be bumping the rev limiter a bunch on the base motor without blowing them up. That makes me think Honda left a bunch of safty room on the standard limiter. Lots of autoxers hit limiters all the time without damage. I've been on the limiter hundreds of times between autox and track time with no problems. After all, the limiter is there to prevent damage, not cause it.
I don't know if that motor cuts ignition or fuel. I have seen some that keep injecting fuel and just cut spark. They can get really rich under spark cut conditions which could be bad for the converter and possibly set a code on the OBD2. Probably not though.

it's fuel cut, if it had ignition cut and no cat i'd shoot a flame due to the injectors still dumping X amout of fuel in to the system
Take that tailgaters! A fellow autoxer has an MR2 with the supercharged 1.6 and hitting the limiter on that just makes it belch black smoke like a diesel.
Now if you really want flame, get a turbo rotary with minimal exhaust, rivals a 935 for flamethrower prowess.
I've wondered before if a fuel cut can cause a momentary lean condition as the fuel cuts down. Not a big deal unless you hold it on the limiter for a while I guess.
