the wieght of the car is not a huge factor in top speed it all depends on your horsepower and your gearing. I have heard of a calculation you could do that would tell you what your top speed is just as long as your car has enough power to get it there but I forgot it

although 130mph (my personal best) is still rock-solid in my car, I'm not sure I'd want to go much beyond 150 anyway...

that's when it starts to feel like a videogame

Default 150mph the limit?

That's BS. In a CR-X anyway. With the same powerplant, Car & Driver's measured top speed was 110mph for a '90 Civic Si, while the CRX Si went 120mph. My old ZC and bolt-ons was good for 143mph (rpm/wheel diameter/final/fifth gear calc.), probably more if I would have had the stupidity to hold out even longer. Unfortunately, my S1 tranny will only go 139mph in fifth gear at redline, so the quest for 150mph is off. However, I have a pic (geocities, so no posting) of a GSR getting 7500rpm (150mph) with only an AEM and a DC 4-1, so 150mph is entirely possible in a CR-X with, say 150whp and the right gearing.

you talking to me?

I never said anything about it being impossible -- I'm just not sure I'd want to do it. Although it could be done on a stock tranny if you 86'd the rev limiter and your engine didn't blow up.

I got my car up to 6500rpm in 5th on a stock Si tranny which comes out to roughly 130-135mph not accounting for my slightly oversized wheels and whatever error the tach has. The speedo pegged at about 5700rpm or so.. go figure.

Didn't that guy in NZ set a record at like 148mph?

What are some of the ETs on these ~9s drag rexes? I bet they get up there.

Honestly 130+ in a Crx could be rather interesting. Good luck. My B16 with the y1 seems to have an amazing top end. Never had it over 110 but 3rd gear pulls to about 90, with 4th pulling real hard after that.

Well a friend of mine had a 94 Civic hatch with a B18C swap and a 60 shot of N2O and he got his ride up to around 155 on the 15 towards Vegas while he was racing a Vette

Totally possible. I had my old D-trash to about 135+. I was racing a GSR. He told me when we stopped his speedo was pegged, mine was at the little NS graphic; partially covering the last digit of my trip meter. What a rush....

Since turbo and the LS just 125 and pulling.

Well in my car ( 91 Si w/S1 tranny and the b16a ) full interior and I can go beyond the speed on the speedometer, so atleast 125, then hits the governer, but pulls right up to it.

quidquam....not talking to you.

Anyway, the 148mph was the limit for a Y1 tranny with stock or mostly stock revs (8200 in fifth, I thought, or like 83xx).

And my PR3 limiter would cut in at a indicated 188 to 190 kmh....

The ZC used to make the speedo stop...had to look over at the tach to see know what to calculate later. Although you pretty much have to always look at the tach (an aftermarket one, at that) to get an accurate reading of your speed. Speedos are too inaccurate.

Well, when my '90 CRX Si had the stock motor and tranny, I had it up to 7000rpm going down a slight downgrade! That was the fastest I ever had it up to. I have yet to get rid of the pesky 180kmh speed limiter that the PW0 ECU has!

118 mph (PR3 ECU) w/ both windows rolled down, the sunroof open, and at about 7000rpm in 5th gear... I don't like going that fast!

Isn't the speed limiter weird? It feels like the car's hitting the brakes for you. Very sudden, very direct.

130 in my si with I/E i did it twice. the second time was pretty scary, the car started to swerve and i tried to turn it back b/c i almost smacked a wall. then it just kept swerving until i finally got it back straight again. and this in the middle of the day on the freeway!
