maintence schedule
Hello,
I had my R since new from 3/00. Now it has 21k miles.
Summer of 02, Dealer did 15K service also change Trans fluid and did valve adjustment.
Now I requested before winter to do brake fluid flush, coolent change and
regular 3K oil change.
Am I over cautious since I don't drive in winter season and its almost 4yrs old next march?

I wouldn't want to be driving around with 4yr old coolant and brake fluid... I don't think you are being "overly cautious"... If you care enough about your car to not drive it in the winter, then do yourself a favor and take care of the easy maintenance

Let's look at each of the items. (I happen to like keeping track of service items individually.)
1. Brake Fluid. The owner's manual recommends changing it every 3 years, regardless of mileage. I think that's too long. Over time, brake fluid absorbs moisture, which reduces its effectiveness (boiling point, which is a measure of its resistance to boiling over). I think any car driven on the street should have its brake fluid changed at least once every 2 years, and that a car being driven on the track should have it changed at least once a year. Your car hasn't had its brake fluid changed in over three and a half years, so by ANY of these measures, it's overdue.
2. Coolant. With the new coolant now in use, the owner's manual (at least, the one for my '01 ITR) specifies changing it after 120K miles or 10 years, whichever comes first, and after that every 60K miles or 5 years. I would not change yours at this time.
3. Oil Change. Lots of people have lots of opinions on this. If you use a 3K interval, go for it.
