Default o2 sensor for honda accord

well right now i have a 96 honda accord..and my check engine light is on..so i went to autozone..and they did a test on my car and they said i had a bad o2 sensor...well i went and bought 1 i replaced the one in the manifold pulled the battery cables over night...and let it sit..next morning..cranked the carback you and engine like came back on..then i talk to my friend..he said it might be my secondary o2 down near the cat....so recently my bro just got a new engine swap in his delso...and i took his o2 out of his blown engine..but the o2 was still good...o2 was taken from a d15b7..would it do any harm if i tryed to see if it would work on my car? ?????

cliffnotes: if i put a primanary o2 sensor from a honda delso (d15b7) in my my secondary o2 slot..will it do any harm?..

thanks in advance guys

not sure bout that man. you could just wire up a dummy o2 sensor, the secondary really isnt necessary.

did you actually check the error code the ecu was throwing? i think it should tell you which sensor it is.

Did you make sure that the primary o2 is supplying proper voltage to the sensor?
Was this a plug and play o2 sensor you bought? or an universal o2 sensor?
If it was an universal one, make sure you hooked up the proper wires to the stock wires.
The primary and secondary o2 sensors are identical... no harm will be done by swapping the two.

the mechanic at autozone should've told you which o2 sensor the obd2 checker was displaying.

You can also check to see if you have resistance in the sense wires of the o2 sensor.

Another thing to check for is a fouled catalytic converter.

i can't remember off the top of my head if the connectors are the same...

if your civic is from 92+, it's a 4 wire heated o2 sensor...

the o2 sensor in the accord is also 4 wire heated....

i'm just not 100% positive on the wire to connector location match...

best to do is to use a multimeter and test the resistances...

2 wires heat the o2 sensor...
2 wires measure the resistance across the sensor...

true, but i don't believe the OBD1 and OBD2 O2 sensors are the same...

all 4 wire o2 sensors work the same way...

denso, bosch, etc... doesn't make special o2 sensors for car companies...
these are bought terminated with the car company's desired electrical connector and wiring configuration...

all 4 wire o2s are the same...

all 5 wire o2 sensors are the same...

all 1 wire o2 sensors are the same...

all sensors operate on resistance...

1 wire o2 sensor is a single resistance wire...

4 wire o2 sensor - 2 wires heat the element, 2 wires are for resistance measurements

5 wire o2 sensors - 2 wires heat the element, 3 wires are used for resistance measurements

when you pulled the code it should tell you if it is the front or rear O2 sensor. Don't buy the auto zone (bosch) sensor because honda's e.c.u.(s) won't like it, there are funny like at. Rather buy a factory N.G.K. one. I had a O2 sensor go bad on my 91 (4-gen) accord and replaced it with one from autozone and it did not work. I had to take it back and get a honda one which cost me about $250.
