Evers since i bought my R used a few months back i've noticed a weird buzz-like sound coming from under the car.

it's most easily heard when parked in the garage. the sounds lasted for a few seconds and then goes away. if i wait and listen it will usually happen again within a minute or so. i notice it usually after drving the car, and it ONLY happens when the car is off. and it sounds like it's coming from the rear, around the fuel pump area.

does this sound normal?

you guessed it. sounds like a fuel pump to me. If you put the key in the ignition, and turn it to the "ON" position without starting the car, does it make the same buzzing sound?

 

My ITR makes the same buzzing noise ....

I was told that rather than it being a swarm of bees stuck in my gas tank ....

its actually the fuel pump ....

 

the noise is the gas tank evap. purge system bleeding off excessive tank pressure.

mine does it all the time... more often when the temps outside change (garage door is opened) and/or when the gas tank has a low level.

 

i think it does make that same sound when i put the key in the ignition.

so, i guess it's normal, huh?
