What mileage for tune up, timing belt belt replacement, etc?
My wife has a 98 Accord EX, 4 Cyl VTEC with 76K on the odo. At what mileage should I start looking into getting it tuned up, replacing the timing belt/chain, and other necessary maint.?

This is a very good topic and a lot of people are looking for this answers and i am one of those people. I need to know how many Kilometres when you change your timing belt and and do i have to chnage the water pump and seals with it too? other than that does any one recommend anything else please be specific i m NEWBIE thanks a lot on Advance...
Usually it's 60,000 miles /100,000km.
You replace the belts, all fluids, check filters, you can also change the water pump, and check also normal wear parts like sparkplugs, brakes (pads and rotors), tires, exhaust line, etc, etc.

There's a bunch of stuff to do every 30k like air filters, spark plugs, & accessory drive belts. But the timing belt is 105k in my owner's manual ('98 4-cyl).
But everyone says do the timing belts at 90k and also replace the water pump at the same time.

I stand corrected.

98+ accords are 105K or 110K depending on the motor. 90K was for 90-97 accords.
the owners manual is your friend, don't hesitate to read it

The main maintenance items at 30,000 miles, then every 15,000 miles thereafter.
I have a '99 LX I4 and was just reading through my owner's manual today since I'm almost at 60,000 miles.
Since you haven't done anything, check your owner's manual and get everything caught up. This will include changing your spark plugs, doing a flush and fill on the radiator, changing the brake fluid, and a bunch of smaller stuff like making sure you have had an oil change in the past 7,500 miles, that the tires are rotated, replacing the cabin filter (a bitch to get to, but it can be done yourself), air filter, etc.
If you buy a Haynes manual for it you'll see how to the basic stuff yourself with no problems (changing the plugs & filters).
As mentioned above, the timing belt is not due until 105,000 miles (at least on my '99).
And of course, start doing the maintenance religeously after this. Much of the stuff you can do yourself, the others can be done by any decent mechanic (don't take it to the dealer, they'll charge a ton of $$$).

Are you kidding me? We are talking about the timing belt here. If a timing belt snaps or breaks.. there goes your valves and basically your motor...
What i've heard is to change your timing belt at 90k along with replacing the water pump and crank and cam seals as well.

Thanks for all of the replies. But why would I want to read the owners manual when I can just come here and get better info. I have learned within time that manuals aren't God's word, and half the time they are nothing more than efforts to make a company more money or have been written by idiots who don't know that much. Anyway, thanks again.
PS - I'm still laughing at the guy who said to replace it when it breaks.

timing belt replacement is at 105 or 7 years 60k for severe driving conditions. i just looked this info up right now.I am at work I work for a honda dealer..
on the tune up it depends how you drive your car severe,or normal.(replacing a timing belt when it snaps is the dumbest thing you can do.because the pistons and valves will hit and they dont like each other and will be messy )replace it before that happens its called preventative maintenance..

That is probably why I always thought 60K, because Honda Canada doesn't give us the choice between a medium and severe maintenance schedule. Due to the climate, we have to follow the severe conditions maintenance schedule. At least that's the way it is with the TSX.

That product update didn't cover 98 models. The seals are properly installed on 98 and newer models.
