Car wont start after 3 months garaged
Basically my car (JDM Honda Integra SiR) wont start after been lying up for 3 months outside. The battery is completely dead and i have been trying to start the car using jump leads from battery off my Civic.
The ECU light goes out 2 secs after ignition and although the starting motor cranks the car over I get nothing.
Any one got a few ideas that I can try to get this car started again.
Thanks a million

Fuel or spark...
Listen for the fuel pump - it's supposed to run for something like 2 seconds when you turn on the ignition. Kinda like while the ECU light is on...
Then check that you have a good spark. Pull a plug wire & check with an old spark plug if you don't have a spark tester.

thanks for reply Jim.
Before my car was laid up due to the clutch going on me one day the car was running perfect.
Does something happen to the fuel pump after the car is laid up for a long time?
The petrol tank was nearly empty too, would this cause a problem with the fuel pump?

Empty tank might have invited moisture condensing in there. Maybe a bottle of gas-dryer might help? Maybe the fuel level is so low the pump is having trouble priming itself? If that's it try putting 5 more gallons in.
Usually when someone stores a car for awhile it's good to fill the tank all the way to avoid these. Worse yet, maybe some corrosion of the pump itself if it wasn't submerged.
How was the car laid up? Is it possible some mice were chewing on the wiring harness? They love that stuff.
You might want to try NEW spark plugs. I had a set that wouldn't fire even though they looked real nice & clean.

Should have used Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer, like that new commercial says when that guy can't get his boat's motor to start. I would say it would have to be the battery or fuel.
I have the car parked out my mother in laws back yard.
I have just finished off digging my front garden and put in a second drive way so I am going to transfer the car to there so I can do some much needed work on her.
There is a whole bunch of stray cats out the back so I doubt if there would be any of those demon mice there.
I will fill up the petrol tank over the weekend and put in new plugs and see how she goes from there.
I live in Ireland and it gets very wet here, even over the summer months so im sure there is plenty of oppertunity for moisture to get in.
Cheers for the advice.
I will let you know how I got on.

check to see if your main relay is still good, they love to die on you when you take your car off the road for an extended period of time!
