B18C into 95 EX Coupe
Ok, I'm about a week away from ordering a B18C1, and want to know as much about it as I can before ordering.
First off, I'm leaning towards hmotorsonline for their full swap. Questions though. Since my car is OBD1 (I'm pretty sure, don't know jack 'bout ECU's) does that mean it'll be easier to wire up the 94-95 motor than a more recent one? The 94-95's are OBD1 whereas the newer ones are OBD2, and I don't know if that means I'll have to do additional wiring etc.
Second, the full swap comes with axles. Does that mean I can simply swap those in, and not have to worry? Or will I need other parts to ensure there is no breakage.
Third, JDM vs. USDM. Same price, but 10 extra horsepower? Does this mean any extra work, or just worse emissions? I'm in Hawaii, where there are no emissions laws, so it's kind of moot for me, but I may be going back to the mainland in the not too distant future, so if it means that my car may not be legal this could be important.
Fourth, hydraulic/cable tranny? I'm probably going to go for the LSD transmission, so I want to know what difference is there between the two? I just know that the hmotorsonline website says that the kit to convert hydro to cable is available, so I want to know whether or not it would be a good investment and if there are any important differences.
And finally, just a quick question about legality. I remember hearing (or rather reading) somewhere that it is illegal to put an engine in a car if the engine is from an earlier year. Does that mean I can only look at 95+ engines, or is that a state specific thing, or just plain foolishness?
I plan on doing a fair amount of the work myself, but I'll be doing it with help from the guy who is currently painting my car. I've seen enough of his work and talked enough with him that I'm sure we could manage the swap in a weekend or so, but I still would appreciate any information you guys could give me in advance, whether the questions I asked, questions I'm likely to ask if we get stuck, or just things I should know.
I've done a LOT of searching, here and elsewhere, and if these are questions that have been asked and answered before, I'm sorry, but I didn't find them.
Thanks in advance.

There's no extra wiring between OBD1/OBD2 GSR swap in an EG. Only thing is if you get a newer OBD2 you'll have a motor with less miles but you'll want to track down an OBD1 ECU to use.

As long as the CV joints are good they're good to go, nothing extra is needed.

Laws are different from state to state, only place you really have to worry about having a JDM motor is CA, even then some can be smogged. Other than that, you'll have much better chance of finding a JDM GSR swap than a USDM one.

Your car has a hydraulic operated tranny, you'll want to get a hydro tranny which is what comes with all 94+ GSR swaps.

Again like emissions, it varies from state to state.
