Default p72 hondata

ok, maybe i'm missing something here...but a friend of mine is going w/ a hondata s200 system on his 98 type-r and as we all know(or most) you have to use a obd-1 ecu, he aquired a p72 from a friend, who was using it in his 98 gsr(straight up no hondata)...correct me if i'm wrong(which i hope i am) you have to use a conversion harness to run the ecu...both my friend and the guy w/ the gsr are just plugging it straight into the stock wiring harness ....what the hell is up w/ this?? it worked in the gsr..will it work in the type-r(his motor is out being built)..let me know

the obd1 p72 will only plug into an obd1 civic, integra etc.. so in order to use it in any 96+ integra you will need to run a conversion harness

94-95 P72 = OBD1 Hondata compatible
96-up P72 = OBD2 No Hondata

94-95 P72 in a 96-up, will need an OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness

ok....it was supposed to be an obd-1 p72...but it was plugged into his(the gsr's) factory harness(no conversion harness) what i didn't know was that the 96 up also had the p72 part# or whatever..now i know...if the previous posts are correct, then what he got was the 96 up version not the 94-95... right? is there anyway to tell which is which? numbers? help me out

Hondata does modify OBD1 ecus with OBD2 plugs so that you dont need to run a jumper harness.

Hondata does not add addpter harnesses to ecus. Hondata sells p28's with adapters built into them.
