pistons or just shave
well i am confused now
i was thinking about doing CTR pistons in my b16 and then shaving my head to up comp even more... i just talk to a buddy and he said save my money and just shave the head and dont put pistons in it. it is cheaper and u can do the same thing.
i dont know how it will work.
what do u all think about it?

Just be careful, if you raise your compression too high you will have problems with pump gas. What happens when you are out of fuel and the only gas station has 87 Octane? You better carry a bottle of Octane booster with you just to be safe.
why not take the center layer out of the head gasket.you can save your head and piston.if you want really high comp. take one layer and mill head 30ths and use ctr's that would make you a pretty mean all motor with stock parts.
I don't think that you can safely shave enough off of your head to get up to 11.5:1. You are going to have to get pistons.
Assuming that you can, I would probably still opt for pistons, or shave a spare head. Problem with shaving is that once you shave the head, you can't undo it.

once you shave a head enough to make a huge difference in compression, you will need to compensate with adjustable cam gears since the difference in height will effect timing belt and timing cams to the crank..... ugh.

I have never had more problems with a motor than when I had a milled head on my b16a. Pistons work, thinner gaskets work, and they are both able to be undone. I had to sell my milled head and get a stock one, after I did that, everything worked great.
