He never said it was the "homemade dr1ft cAny0n kr3w Sp3ci1al c-p!lla baR!"

Maybe some of you would like to know how he did it to make your own cheap "camera bar"

Why do you still have your rear seat if you are not going to put anyone back there (seriously, don't). More cusion for groceries?

I'm under the impression that it is more of a show thing, than anything else. I do know the satisfaction of making something yourself, though, I just don't think I'd make one of these.

Do you have your own mill?

Not all forms of competition allow for the removal of the rear seats but do allow for a "Camera mount bar". Many autocross classes fall under this catagory.

It was mostly a sarcastic remark. However, if you've been reading any of the previous C-pillar bar posts, you will see that some people actually put their passengers in the back seat with solid metal inclose proximity to their heads.

Doesn't matter to me whether he/she autocrosses or not (I hope he/she does, because it's fun as hell), but I don't want to hear about people sitting around that thing.

Another assumption drawn from a simple picture.

Again, what the **** is wrong with you guys?

I used some 1/8 inch L shaped brackets from the hardware store. (the heavy duty ones you can use for shelving). I had to cut them and drill some different size holes. They are very stout.

I installed the bar so it sets directly vertically above the rear seats, I am planning on possibly getting some head rest made up to releive rear seated passengers. I made this out of my garage using my dads tools. And no its not really too much for show, I actually felt a difference in the rear-end stiffness of the car.

Hey SoloSol,

I went to my local homedepot to purchase the 1/2" steel piping at a 48" length. I then Had to shop around for a set of heim joints (the gold dealies). I got the 3/8" metric heim joints from a Industrial auto shop. I then Got hardware at the local True Value. I got Metric 3/8" nuts that thread onto the heim joints and welded them to the inside of the 1/2" steel piping i purchased. Basically the 3/8" nut fit snugly into the 1/2'' piping perfectly enough to allow for me to weld. I then grinded the welds down to make it all nice and smooth. Overall the product turned out very nice, Ill post more pics later when it is painted.

I am also condidering making these as a side job. If any one is interested go ahead and IM me. I could probably make them for $50.00 plus shipping.

Thanks, Pete

My "IB4TL" was just a pre-emptive "IB4TL." You know, just in case.

Hey, that C-pillar bar looks pretty good.

Like everyone else said, don't sit any passengers back there with that in there! I doubt you want any lawsuits over some torsional rigidity.

If you're going to mount a harness to it for autox, I'd recommend wearing your stock seatbelt underneath the harness because the brackets would likely break in the event of a collision.

Thanks For the nice replies. As for seating passengers in the rear, im going to look into getting some head rest over each passenger seat. That should actually help out the rear passengers if i ever did get into a collision. As you can see in the photo above unlike other pillar bars ive seen, I managed to line up my bar with the top of the backseats.

Thanks for the info ....Ill be trying to make one of these for the delsol as a camera mount. Id really love to put harnesses on that, but I am aware of the risks and just cant do it.
