SOHC distributors *facts only please*
only facts here please....
-differences and interchangability in 88-91, 92-95, 96-00 civic dizzys
-differences and interchangability in vtec, non-vtec dizzys
-confirmation that d-series dizzy does not fit b-series
-differences and changes with obd0, obd1, obd2
hopefully this will help all and will be *user search friendly*

OBD1 and OBD 2 have differant plugs repinn them to work
on B series Vtec and Non Vtec Dizzys have differant mounting points because of the Vtec Solenoid is in the way
From the pics i have seen of the Sohc Vtec it looks like they might interchange
i thinkn it is just the plug that just plugs into the dizzy (can someone back me up don't know if rotor button and all that is the same)

D15B7 dizzy will work, but youhave to elongate the holes and only use 2 bolts in going on a D16Z6 oy Y8 head.
All OBD0 dizzy's can only go on OBD0 harnesses.
All OBD2 Dizzy's can only go on OBD2 harnesses. And you'll also find the Y5, Y7, and Y8 dizzy's interchange. Although, I've not set the timing on those, you again my need to elongate the holes.
Basicly, if the spark plugs are in the BACK of the head, then any D block dizzy with the plugs in back will work. If the plugs are in the front, then you need one from an engine with front plugs.
For the B blocks.....
Any B with VTEC needs either a B16 or a B18C5 dizzy. Exception is the B18C1 GSR. It uses it's own dizzy. The B20 and B18 LS can share bolt patterns, but do not share harnesses from OBD0 to OBD1 to OIBD2, just like with the D blocks.
No B block to D block dizzy swaps are possible.
And that's fact, Jack.
Stick

I know that the y8 dizzy won't fit on a z6 head and vice versa although you could just swap the internals from the y8 dizzy into a z6 and it would work.

Yup, why don't you just unbolt it and see if it bolts to the new block??

thats exactly what i did... (after the post)...
so the 92' d15b7 distributor fits onto my jdm d15b motor, its just that only two legs line up.. and by lining up, its still off... i can't rotate the dizzy to make it fit, i would have to drill/remove part of the b7 dizzy to make it fit.. its off by only a mm or two.. so it should work... i'll have pics of the process soon
