Default 88-89 D16A1.. P29/PM7 pistons WTF

okay, i've seen from everyone on here that 88-89 D16A1 pistons are P29.. well, i recently went to U-Wrench-It and ripped an 89 d16a1 apart, only to find out the pistons are stamped PM7... PM7 = JDM DOHC ZC.. what gives? where did you guys get P29 from?

^^^ yes i realize this.. i know that 86-87 are flat tops and the 88-89s are *p29* dome tops, but this came from an 89 integra, d16a1, and they were pm7s.

Did the engine have a brown valve cover? If so then that integra was not 88-89. Or someone put those flat pistons in there perhaps. weird.

come on man, give me some credit. i know an 88-89 integra when i see one. black valve cover, plastic cam cover identical to ZC, straight intake manifold ( the 86-87 have a bend in them)... and sure enough, pm7 pistons..which are DOME TOPS.

When I replaced the distributor cap on my ZC it said PM7 inside. Now this is a used used motor and I know the 2nd owner replaced all that junk. I doubt it had a JDM dist cap on it. So it is possible some of the 88-89 stuff would say PM7.

Yeah it's true, I read somewhere else that some 88-89's had 'PM7' stamped on them. The P29's are exactly the same as the PM7's... I think if you order brand new OEM 88-89 A1 pistons, they'll have 'P29' stamped on them.
