breather box: ls/vtec questions
a friend of mine has put together an lsvtec, and ill be the first to admit i don't know a lot about the build...etc.
as far as the breather box is concerned, the ls block doesn't have one...but the head itself has a hose that would connect into the box. do most people just leave this open?
or do people get an aftermarket breather...the only thing is oil return...like what happens if the crankcase pressure builds and the head looses oil...with his current setup the oil would be lost.
thanks in advance for the help.

If you look on the block it should have a boss you can cut out for the oil seperater . You can just tap the block on the manifold side of #4 cylinder and run a aftermarket breather tank , but it does need more that just the valvecover breather .
The hole on the top of the valve cover is where the PCV valve should be placed. It has access to the crank case, so oil vapors will be vented through it.
The nipple on the valve cover needs fresh air, so you want to run a hose from your intake piping to it.
If you want an oil catch can, place it between the hose that goes from the PCV valve and the intake manifold.

alright, that seems to make sense. so basically a breather box from a company like endyn would work...provided he tapped into the oil return line.
honestly, i'm not a big fan of lsvtec's for these reasons...so this is my first time dealing with these issues.
