Tires rubbing...blew out sidewall...need help...
I have 205/45/17's on my teggy, and on my way up to a friends house i noticed that i was getting a flat. I make it up to his house, and I take off my front driver side wheel, only to find out that my sidewall had been completely slashed. I found the problem, and it seems to be the plastic lining on the inside of the fenders, as I can see wear and tear on the plastic lining, which seems to be pretty thick. Can I remove this inner lining, and should this correct the problem??? The tire on the other side of the car is about to go as well, as I can feel abnormal wear on the sidewall. I am dropped 2", and my alignment is good...can someone help???
Bump for info!!!
Is it safe to grind down the the lip in the middle of the fender??? And then possibly spray it with some clear coat to prevent rusting? That is what rubs when I turn sharply, and that's what caused my sidewall to shred.

Yes you can pull off the plastic lip cover. and you can also roll the fender.
use either a bat or one of these contraptions. heat gun helps the paint from cracking too as you can see in the thread
