sometimes not all wire colors for all cd players are the same, same for cars, so I'm gonna take a stab at the colors you mentioned. Usually your yellow wire is your battery/positive wire, that needs to be hooked up to your battery/ignition. The red is commonly the accessory wire, the one for your memory, that wire needs to be hooked up to your car's 12V constant just like a cigarette lighter, they run on the same 12V power. You'll need to check your wires when your car's off with a voltometer and find the live 12V constant wire. After that you shouldn't have a problem unless you unhook the wire harness from the cd player itself. As long as your cd player has a 12V constant it shouldn't lose any information (presets, memory, channels, etc.). You can also hook your battery wire from your cd player to the 12V constant but I don't recommend it unless you can remember to turn it off everytime you use it, wears down your battery. If you continue to lose your memory you might wanna have the car battery itself checked out. Hope that info helps a little.

Check your fuses, sounds like u might have blown the fuse for your constant 12v, which is the yellow wire. The yellow wire is constantly showing 12v, which holds the mem for the radio.

Are you useing a wire harness that you bought for your car type? If you are it sounds like you have a blown fuse in the constant wire. This is usually under the hood in the fuse box by the battery. It may be labeled "back up".

I tried everything to help the situation and still nothin, just a note so everyone can know, the cd player still doesn't come on even while just hooking up the battery wire itself. the absolute only way he's getting power is by hooking red and yellow to red on the harness as he firstly stated. If anyone figures this out i would like to know also, cause i'm stumped.. hope somebody can get you mike, good luck
