Should I use 3 QUARTS of tranny fluid ???
i'll be changing my tranny fluid soon with Honda MTF, and i think i remember posts a while back about adding extra tranny fluid for better shifting/better protection.
i know it takes 2.2 q, but will adding the extra 0.8 have any benefit?
any drawbacks?
thanks!

ditto, I think Honda would know and recommend more fluid if it were necessary...
but you should BUY 3 qts

you should always measure on a level surface, or at least make the car level.
that is not soo easy when the driveway is slanted or whatever. so just open up the VSS gear. and pour ~2.3 quarts in. maybe 2.5 so you know you are good to go. measure it using the side of the containter

putting the MTF back in through the fill plug there is no way you can overfill the tranny as you will have .80 quart of MTF on the ground, you can overfill putting it back in through the VSS. Don't put three quarts of MTF in you will ruin your tranny.

It could. But why do you want to do that?
It can cause excessive foam and you might see fluid bubbling out of the vent tube. Not smart.
I *believe* there can possibly be damage by overfilling it. I learned about it once, but I do not want to say anything considering that I don't remember exactly what it was...

This goes for both tranny fluid and your normal oil change, when you over fill it, the built up pressure can blow out seals real quick.
Buy three quarts, use about a half a qt to pour through and kinda flush the tranny, then put the drain plug back on and then fill her up.
