Because they are more money and people who have crx's tend to have less money to begin with.. All the drag racers with crx's use gsrs though.. Why not just get a gsr block and use the b16 head.. poor man's R!

Its not were poor it that to many, I wanna join the scene but dont want to spend the money people have our early hondas, as you can see my my sig I must be poor to (jk, I am only messing with you) but anyway most use the B16 since it can be done for way less and the difference of 10 hp but the 1.8 does offer more torqe. If I were you I would look for just the block.

Yeah sorry didn't REALLY mean POOR just more affordable to people who don't have gobs of money.. it's worth getting a 1.8 if you ask me my 1.6 I have to rev to about 4000 every gear just to get anywhere and people are sitll goin faster than me... yet I still manage a good 28mpg with my driving..

Man, Im droping a B18c in a rex, and im ****** poor as hell, Just gotta work! haha. (Im only 16 so I am aloud to be poor)

BTW- I was going to drop a B18c5 in a Crx, But I found a rex for super cheep (2,200) And its already has a built LS in it. What do you think I should do, I will have 5 grand cash when i sell my dirtbike. Right now i have 4.

Im thinking .. type R head and APEXi turbo would fit nicely on that LS

Maybe not a Type R, but will make it Vtec.

Years ago with the First Mount kits the B18C1 hung way to low.. But I would just get a nice B18A/B long block and build up an LS/VTEC Nice power and a usable tq curve.. And you will be able to do way more with the ls block on the money you save by not getting a C1.. B18jake "its already has a built LS in it. " Whats dont to it?

Ummm... no. The Poor mans R is the B18C1 block, the B16A head, and the ITR Pistons.

Overall, the GSR engine is very strong and extremely reliable. Do this swap, and smoke all who challenge.

There are quite a few crx with b18c's in them. Do some searching on it, and read up. Then buy one, and throw it in, as a matter of fact here you go: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=612545

I think the Poor Man's R is the C1 Block any PR3 Head (ITR or B16 I guess or even B17), and any way to raise the compression back to R territory. I'm running a Poor Man's Type R next season but sleeved and low compression for big b00st.

Did I say anything about pistons? If I wanted to get into detail I would have.. either way for the guy with the ls.. Why go vtec and turbo? Just stick with the ls motor and boost that if I had the choice I'd take my b16 out and get an ls motor for cheaper than turbo that..

Yeah I agree, I would turbo before LS/VTEC turbo. You are going to have a hard enough time turboing before even getting into all the worries of LS/VTEC.
