Japanese Compulsory Insurance (JCI) is a mandatory vehicle safety inspection. There is a standard inspection of approx. 30,000 Yen or about $280 (US). That price may vary depending on your type of car. You will pay an additional amount for any inspection item in need of repair. If this car came equipped with an airbag then they would charge you the price of the part and install it and make you remove the aftermarket item. There are ways of getting around it if you know someone, you only have to get your car JCI'd every two years.

yes its illegal for you to remove or disconect your airbags, its a federally mandated safty equipment on your car.
but if your 5ft or less and sit way to close to the steering wheel you could get a court order to disconcect and or remove yor driver side airbag.
