Default Blown headgasket

White smoke is coming out of my exhaust and my oil level dropped, I'm probably burning oil I think my headgasket is bad. The white smoke only appears once in a while though and I don't see any blue smoke at least not yet. I'm going to do a compression test. Anywho, I've heard that you can use the z6 gasket for the a6 head and I heard it's better because it's full metal. But I don't know, give me your thoughts. Also my coolant overflows in the overflow tank from time to time.

Also, this is a mini-me swap question but what kind of fabrication needs to be done to the distributor support mounts to make the a6 distributor fit on the z6 head? Thanks.

Get a Y8 head and the distributor should bolt in 100 percent, or so I've heard. Also, you could use a Y8 2 layer head gasket (Z6 is 3 layer). Both are metal. Don't use an A6 gasket... composite HG's suck ***.

Yes I know the a6 distributor bolts on the y8 directly without any fabrication but I have a chance to get a z6 head for cheap. I've heard the z6 gasket is the better of the three. I don't know about the z6 being three layers but I know the y8 head gasket is. Also the y8 head gasket is thinner so I don't really want to raise compression quite just yet.

I'm considering a mini-me swap but I don't know if I should. I'm not sure how much tuning it takes.

If you see white smoke than it is coolant, not oil . Your headgasket is shot BTW from what you say. If I were in your shoes and wanted a quick cheap fix, I'd do this. Go buy a OEM y8 headgasket, a 160 degree T-stat, and a helms manual. Throw in the headgasket and the thermostat.(Refer to manual, I'm lazy) This y8 headgasket will slightly bump up your CR. Advance your ignition timing all the way, run 93 octane and have some fun.

Yeah oops, I knew it was coolant but I forgot to post that but I figured my oil level dropped so I was also burning oil too. I just ordered a z6 headgasket. And why would I need a new thermostat? I know my radiator cap seal is bad, I haven't changed that yet, I'll get to it though.
