93 accord h22 overheating
got my engine bout a week ago, without pushing it too hard and w/o the a/c on, it will randomly start to overheat, was driving it during the day when it was like 85 degrees out, and then around 6p when it was cooler it started to go up to hot, the temp gauge goes up after idling for a couple min usually, not while actually driving, it happened like a week ago too, coolant levels are fine and so is oil level, are temp ranges for h22 and accord diff or somthin so the gauge is sayin hot when it would be normal for a prelude??? its the p13 ecu
any suggestions??? thanks

i'd just pull it out and look at it if nothing else seems to be the culprit......not hard to overheat the head, warp it a bit and then ruin it for good...not hard to pull the thermostat....just see if it's stuck in the closed position and hell, you might as well replace it in the process......if that doesn't fix it, maybe there is an airlock in the system from when the radiator was replaced....
replace the thermostat, and probably good to replace it with the lowest temp one you can find just because you run the engine hard anyway. But umm, it's only like $16, and it's cheap insurance. "Seeing if it's broken" is really not easy to the untrained eye.

listen to this at once, get the wax ball from oem honda, only oem honda
check fan, bypass passage, etc
any major headwork done to the dohc engine?

Yeah, sounds like your fan isn't going on, in which case it would overheat once you're stopped for the obvious reason of your radiator not getting air.
Check your thermostatic switch, check your fan motor, relay, etc, and most probably you will have to change your thermostat, because once you overheat it anyways, it will tend to stick when it closes back.

Start your car when it is cold. If the lower radiator hose is never getting hot, then your thermostat may be the culprit. The thermostat opens when it reaches its operating temperature to let the coolant circulate through the radiator. This is true with most cars, not sure about your H22. Hope it helps.
