I have been looking for a little bit, and was wondering what might be the bext bang for the buck production header.
Such as Jg, dc sports, apexi, hell even jdm type r.... I want some thing that I can play with on the street , but dont know if the fabricated header are worth the extra money. Please dont flame me I am honestly curious... it will help my descion greatly on your opinions. Jason

You best bet is to find a used hytech, header tech, sms, etc. If you want something that is truly off the shelf, as much as I hate to say it, jdm dc 4-1 is a good choice. They are freakin cheap.

vtecvoodoo is right about the jdm dc 4-1 header...
cheap as hell and it does it's job..
some people are **** about ground clearance...so that might not be their first choice...
i like my jg/edelbrock pro flow header with a custom 2.5 collector..
ground clearance is great and i got it at a decent price/trade...
some people on this board gained alot of midrange and some high end with this header vs. the jdm dc 4-1.
that, the cost, plus the exceptional ground clearance (no lower than the oil pan)
made my decision.

Thanks guy's I forgot about dc's jdm knock off, I tunned a friends ls vtec, with the jg header , it made 217 to the wheels so i thought it was a good header, but wodner if the race pipe would have made more power, I wonder if you can buy that header with the race pipe instaed of the street collector? I tune mainly turbo cars, the car had come to me with the parts on it installed, I did not select them, I straped the car down, and tuned it via wideband, messed with cam gears, and base timming" it had a factory ecu and a vafc" So ....No I do not know what is the best, I do not want to spend 1200 dollars on a header that will get 5 extra horsepower, but if it is 20 I might consider it. If you know what is the **** tell me....

an-r's are cheap as hell
JDM DC has handled 250whp
headertech's are cheap
JG with race pipe has handled over 280whp

don't waste money on a toda, you can get a header tech cheaper.

but i must ask...why no boost? I mean, i think your reputaion with boost carries you a LONG way, so why ever have anything without?

Well I want to play on the sreet, and a na car with factory ecu is just plain reliable, plus up here everyone has turbo cars on the street, and it is easier to get races when you have a na car, nobody will race me with the crx on the street

AN-R makes a nice one. My friend has one on his D series, he made noticiable gain over his DC 4-1 he had, and thats D series.

I'll vouch for the JDM DC as well. It's not the best out there but its cheap and it works.

Do I want another better performing header? Yes of course.

Does it hang a little low? Yeah a bit.

Did a JDM DC header put my stock block and head, stock weight, stock tranny, untuned, and street tired ITR into the 13's with traps over 100mph? Yes it did and on numerous occasions. Can't argue with that.

Hey Jason, JDM type R header is inexpensive and probably the best bang for the buck with the 2.5" collector. Ceremic is only $300

Also a friend of mine just got a HeaderTech header and has a 3" collector and is also not very expensive and could find out a price if interested.

Check it Out:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=583487
Ceremic-$450
S.Steel-$650

best money I spent so far for my car has been my TODA header, I love it. And it is the best mass produced header you can buy. If you got the money, and don't want to wait for a custom header, go TODA!!!
