how to tell if stock?
i bought a 95 b18b a friend sold it to me out of his car he had just bought (used) drove it to the house and put in a b18c5 so he knew nothing about the motor now that it is in my car (93 civic dx) it seems a lot faster and sounds a lot different then most ls motors wanted to know if anyone knows the sight differance of a stock and after market cam and flywheel thanks

your going to have to pull the head to see if they are aftermarket cams. you'd have to post pics for us too actually see them for us to tell you there different. maybe when you get a chance to work on your head then you can check it out.
to my knowledge. isn't your civic lighter then an integra? that may be the reason why it feels like it pulls harder....you could perhaps have a freak engine on your hands aswell. its way too tough to tell with the question you asked.

He doesn't necessarily have to pull the head to see if they are aftermarket cams. A quick removal of the valve cover might tell that story. I'm not sure if aftermarket cams have the appropriate company's logo on them, but it might be something to look for. You may have to turn the motor over manually to rotate the camshafts and inspect for any markings.
As for the flywheel part, there's really no way of telling unless you drop the tranny and remove the clutch assembly... more work than it's worth, trust me when I say that.

i think his friend bought a b18c5 and sold him the b18b, and thinks the b18b is faster than normal, least thats what i got out of it after reading it a few times

yeah that is what he is saying, his friend bought an LS, bought a b18c swap and swapped it in sold his old b18b to this guy he threw it in his hatch and now thinks it is faster than most other LS motors, remember weight plays a big factor here putting it in a hatch that wieghs far less than a teg is going to make it faster and pull harder, the volume might unless is considerably loud might just be the shape of the engine bay and they way it makes the sound waves from the motor resenate louder.
