Car knockin at start up after doin some work!!!!!
i originally had a stock 01 gsr with skunk2 stag1 and valvetrain... for about 5 months it was runnin fine... then i put on the msd6al ignition, rc 310 injectors.. and it was fine for about 3 days then as i was about to put in the p72 skunk2 chipped ecu... i noticed when the car was warm and i started it up there was a knocking sound... idk exactly how to explain it but it sounds like it knocks a few times and has a hard time starting... it idles fine except it jumps a little bit about 1000-1200 rpms but notin too bad... anyone have any ideas at what it could be... also when im at around 3k -4k i hear like a metal grinding noise.. thanks
could be something internal which would suck hardcore...but also check the timing belt...if it jumped and the timing is off it is known to make some noise

yea it could

set the crank to TDC #1 piston and make sure the cam gear are still lined up with the UP arrows pointing up.
Bro, if you did all that, then that sounds to me you have cheap gas in there. Remember, if you did your ecu then your ecu automatically advances your timing which means more heat. If you took care of the gas thing then check into getting a bigger radiator. It might not be indicating that its not overheating but its running hot which it will give you pings and knocks after warm up.

uh...it would NOT drive fine btw, you'd get lag and you'd really notice. plus i think it wont always start up properly.

not gas filled it up twice already.... it doenst happen when its warm... but when i start it when its warm...could it be the injectors, anyhow...im so lost and im gettin pissed

Ayuh, one tooth represents a significant amount of timing with a belt driven setup. It would probably run like total crap.

all the time, or just at startup? is your current ECU chipped? i have a feeling the injectors are just dumping too much fuel in at startup...
Edit: sorry... didnt see the part about 3-4k metallic grinding... If youre running stock pistons and ecu, there shouldnt be any issues with detonation...

really appreciate the reply... yea the ecu is a p72 chipped with a skunk2 chip.. .and rc 310 injectors... if it is the injectors what could i do to help that...its just at start up and sometimes when i start it it idles REALLY low at like 200 then jumps up... and other times it's Fine... idk

the skunk2 chips are relatively tame timing wise... the gsr compression ratio isnt all that high to begin with compared to a b16a or type r... So i really doubt its detonation... Are you getting any cel codes for IACV?
i dont have any check engine lights... what is a IACV by the way.... should i plug in my obd2 computer and see if i get a CEL with that cuz theres more?
Idle Air Control Valve... ecu controls the idle speed through it... sometimes a fluctuating idle speed is a problem with the IACV sysyem... have you tried it with a stock ecu? sometimes a bad rom does the same thing....
im goin to try it tomorrow with the stock ecu... but it was happening when i had the old obd2 computer in it also
i really have a feeling its soemting in the head not torqued right for some reason.. but im usually worng about my feelings... so idk if i take off the vavle cover could i check most of the bolts in the head?
