HELP! car shakes like a mad man!!!
here's the story:
I was driving my car when I was thinkin to myself,"hmm...haven't felt VTEC for awhile
" Anyways, so I drop to 2nd gear and floor it. Immediately after I let off the gas, my car started shaking like crazy. It feels like my rim is lop-sided or something like that. I believe it's coming from the driver-side. Anyways, checked my axles, rims and tires and nothing. The thing is when I gas the car, it shakes. When I don't gas it, it runs smooth with no problems. I was thinking it might be a bad differential or bad axles. I was thinking about bad bearings but wouldn't the car still shake if I didn't gas it?? Let me know what you guys think. I need some ideas quickly before this weekend! Thanks in advance!

It does sound like an engine mount. As soon as you put 'load' on it (floor it) you're getting this vibration. If you say it feels like the drivers side - well best check there first!
If a mount is shot real bad you should be able to rock the engine by getting a good grip of it and rocking it backwards and forwards. Solid mounts will hardly budge under your weight.
If it's CV joint trouble you're having, then your car won't vibrate a lot BUT a loud metal clanking/grinding noise will be coming from one of your axles......

cv joints. mine did the same thing. i burnt the hell out of my tires and it broke apart inside. i mean it shook so bad i thought my rims were coming off. look for a lot of grese near the boot, mine slung apart.
yea...you should hear crackin sounds when you make turns. if you make a u-turn or something, roll your windows down and listen for *crack crack crack crack*...if its loud and clicks alot...you should change them before your wheels really do come off.
you broke your axle (one of the three gears inside the cv joint broke) you wont be able to see it from just a visual. but from your symptoms that's what it sounds like to me
one way to know for sure...is the shaking from side to side? if yes replace axle

i doubt you broke your axle. I broke both of mine of my legend and all they did was pop a little when turning or hitting pumps. did u check the mounts yet?
well I checked the tranny, driver side, and front mount and they seem fine to me. it's a bitch to get to the rear mount.
I rocked the motor as hard as I could but it barely moved, if any movement at all
. I don't think it's a messed up mount. I did recently put in a Napa re-manufactured driver side axle. It's about 2-3 months old. Could this be the culprit? I'm gonna see if I can pull my boots off and take a good look. Also, what's a sign of bad wheel bearings? Forgot to add, when I turn, I can feel the car limp even more. My friend and I were driving along and I asked him to check my tire to see if it was wobbling. from what he said, both the driver and passenger side wobbles. It only feels bad from the driver side though. Keep up the feedback guys. I need some more feedback. Thanks!

It could be the CV joint. It'll shake the car on acceleration on the INNER CV Joint when it goes bad. My driver side is bad and mine shakes a little.
It also could be the engine mounts.
Check the rubber inside the mounts to see if they are broken. It's probably not easy to see with the engine in the car. Try just revving it in neutral (or park if auto) and see how much the engine moves. A little movement is normal but not a lot.
Also jack the car up and check the boots of each axle. Each axle typically has 2 boots, an inner (toward the tranny) and an outer (toward the hub). This would sound like an inner so keep that in mind.

IMO have you had your tires balanced lately? Mine did it real bad , like shake me in my seat all of a sudden one day, it was my balance! Felt REAL REAL bad, was real cheap to fix! GOOD LUCK
how bad was it? did it shake a lot? I'm thinkin my wheels might be off balance too cause I just recently had tires mounted. My friend took it to his school to have them mounted and he said something like they didn't have the right weights so they just combined weights. Maybe I just need to rebalance them. One thing though, when the car starts to move, it makes a noise like when you have something loose. It sounds like it catches then goes. Not sure if you guys understand what I'm saying though.
yea i ran over somthing last night and just got my tires fixed and balanced.
It vibrates like the wheel is coming off.
One more thing... does anyone know how come my brakes make a REALLY loud scratchy sound when the brakes get warm/hot??? I mean it's REALLY loud and I just replaced the brake pads.
Ever since I ran over that Metro bus part its been doing it.
I can see marks on the caliper when my stock rim broke and hit it.
Could the caliper be messed up? Or maybe even the brake disc?
please help
sorry Honda Sport
