what do yous think of the Xtant Hex subs??
Depends on what you want out of them....I know of a competitor who does VERY well with a pair of them sealed in a Ford Countour SVT.
So are they the best, probably not, but are they capable....you bet.

Bob...owner of the contour does very well ( he'a local boy
)
As which is better...its all personal preference and basic geometry.
The hex has more surface area than the circle, hence it moves more air...
more air mo bass. Both in the optimal enclosure and in the same car
you might gain 1-2 db increase...not really a noticable improvement.
they have almost the same output.
Just a thought...

Speakers are supposed to be round. I hate these square, hexagon shaped subs. Sure, the Kicker Solobarics are loud, but they sound like crap. Xtant makes awesome amps, but Xtant subs have never been a favorite for audiophiles. In my opinion their is no sub on the market right now that can compete with the JL W7!

I want to make this staement:
I all my years of involvement in mobile electronics ( well over 10 )
I have NEVER blown up a speaker... any speaker under NORMAL listening
conditions ( SPL events excluded ) !!!!
I believe that most in the know (rrcurly,piechie,vteg,nsxestreme...etc ) would
agree with me. Speakers give up the ghost mainly because of owner abuse.
Yes its all personal preference...but how much of our opinions are based on
screwups or not using the gear in the right fashion.
just a thought...

I'd have to agree with you....
It's possible to blow one due to a manufacturing defect - but 4, that's near statistically impossible.
It could have to do with Xtants rating on them, but I'd bet it has more to do with installation, bass boost, x-over points and a irresponsible person with their finger on the volume control.

very well put, i know a lot of people that couldn't even tell you what watts are and buy the "purdiest" looking amp and subs. not saying the other guy did that, but I know i have never blown any subs even while overloading them (stupid, i know).
I personally haven't gone out of the circular design, never looked interesting enough (spec wise and looks) for me to switch, would like to test 'em though, my buddy just got 1 Alpine Type-R 12" that blew away 2 12" JBLs, so there's a sure shot for ya

you need to get out and listen to some more "exotic" options out there. I've had plenty of feedback now about the MTX 9500 sounds as good if not better than the W7 and hits harder. Not to mention there's really wacky subs out there (ones you never hear of) that would murder the W7 is SQ. Of course you'll be paying $$ for em
