Depends on how much you want to spend in the end. From the stuff I have been reading almost two months to update myself I would say the following. Listed in ascending wallet pain order. Elemental Audio e12a, Brahma 12, JL 12W7. These guys have 25+mm xmaxes and can run 1000+ watts rms. The better audio sub will probably be here when it comes out also.

I like kicker for bang for the buck. The e12k seems to be popular also.

It is agreed on elitecaraudio that the only MA sub with descent sq is the alums.

It depends what you like in terms of sound and how much money you are willing to spend.

best SQL sub (money not an issue), goes to the W7. of course assuming all subs were in their optimal install. best SQL sub for the price, Adire audio Brahma. best SPL sub for under $200, RE SE (take more beating than you think it can), best SQL sub for under $200, Elemental designs k-series.

Over the $300 price range they make decent aluminum coned subs. Below that, well, a dime a dozen subs with cheaper materials than most.

SPL-Digital Designs 9512-We've won multiple DB Drag world championships with these.

SQ-Image Dynamics IDMAX12 V3

Under $200 Image Dynamics ID12 V3

Just my opinion on the subject. Everyone is gonna tell you something different. The W7 is a nice sub but way overpriced for what it is. The IDMAX will keep up with if not outperform a W7 for about half the price.

hahhahahahahaha, thats so damn hilarious. i can pick audiobahn up from fry's electronics. dont get me wrong and all, fry's is the **** for computers. but not car audio, they have mobile authority, not MA, jensen, visonik, just to name a few on there display. so tell me again about large electronic stores.

Yes, I have heard them....I wouldn't call them impressive by any stretch. I realize exactly what they offer. Yes, they do work for the people who need a stereo that makes lots of noise, is cheap, and is pretty. IMO, if you really care about your ears, and even your passengers...you gotta pass on that crap. Any company who chromes everything so that it sells, is not producing quality gear....think about it...

......they have got to be the best sounding subs i've ever heard....
I would suggest you make some attempts to listen to some other products out there then. I'm not saying they didn't sound good to you (I have no clue about your hearing or tastes) but I would feel comfortable in noting that most of the audio enthusiasts on the PLANET would disagree with calling Audiobahn (as a whole line) good sounding

but don't take it from me....
Don't worry, I won't!!

Not saying your opinion is wrong, I'm just STRONGLY disagreeing with it.

How does the dd9500's compare in sq to sq subs. Descent atleast? I want some descent sq, but I also want loud. I just found a page where a teg got 148db with one 9512

DD's a mainly SPL. But you can get a DD to sound good. You gotta mess around with box sizes. But I would buy a different sub for the money your goning to spend on a DD.

Elemental, Adire, RE are all excellent subs.

RE subs use Adire new XBL2 technology, which creates a linear BL curve, which means is has VERY low distortion at full throw.

I have heard Elementals, I've seen them. I've heard an Adire Brahma 12 and 15. Its one amazing sub. the 15 is not sloppy at all.

If your on a budget I'd go with elemental, if not go with Adire Brahma. Some say its better than the w7 some say its very close. I personally thought the brahama was a lot better, but I havn't heard the w7 in a car just in a showroom.

You guys will probably flame me, but I have 2 Sony Xplod 1200 watt subs in my teg, and they are each running at full all the time, and it sounds sweet from the inside. But I have to dynamat the hell out of it. Because from the outside it rattles like a bitch. I got them both for 200 from an auto shop in town. They are good for the price.

The audiobahn AlumX series is above average for SQ/spl.

SQ(L): Image dynamics IDMAX v3, Lambda Mobile (look into these for a great deal...much better than you think)

SPL: Treo CSX, strokers, L7's, (brahma, tumult, maelstrom) = spl/sq

other SQ: a/d/s, phase linear aliante (hard to get), uhmm...I know i'm forgetting a bunch...damnit...can't remember anything - OH, illusion audio ND series

No experience with w7's...no experience with those phase linears, illusions, CSX's, Tumults... just by word for those.

u can get the DD's to sound "decent". get them in at least a 6 cubic feet box. other than that, its just like a big damn midbass driver.

I've got some CDT audio 10". They don't hit extremely hard, but they run from low power and sound awesome. Hit really clean, and some of the best SQ I've heard out of a sub. Then again, its preference. Go out to small shops and listen to their stuff. It will give you an idea of what's good or what you might like.

Sorry guys but no one has even mentioned some of the cleanest most respomsive subs on the market...Rockford Fosgate, not to mention their amps are awesome as well. I am running all RF in my Trailblazer and love them, don't miss a beat and slam when i want it, except righ now do to a faulty wire the amp went and then the subs...but that was my fault not the subs... I also love JL audio but everyone has their fair share of opinions this is just my 2 cents

Rockford Fosgate isn't even on the same level as Focals.

They are class B at best.
